Effects of Mining on Environment

Effects of Mining on Environment
The countries around the world want to be on the track of development and also want to be ahead in the race. As a result, they are ignoring the means to achieve the development and following the model of development that is not sustainable. One of the major and the most prominent way of procuring raw materials in this model of development is mining. The adverse effects of mining on environment are manifold. Here are a few of them: It leads to the destruction of forests and wetlands. The area that is to be mined needs to be cleared on the surface, affecting the forests adversely and leading to large scale deforestation. Not only the area that’s going to be mined but also the route to it is cleared off any forests. These routes need to be developed as a road for easy accessibility. This means you also have to cut down a hell lot of trees just to get to the area being mined.

Overpopulation and climate change

Overpopulation and climate change
The soaring population coupled with climate change is set to cause global warming (rapid industrialization) and a worldwide food crisis (excessive agricultural practices). Industrialization: Environmental impact By 2050, the world population is expected to reach a whopping 9 billion. The rising human population has made another adverse effect on the environment, and that is by means of emitting gases. The greenhouse gas emissions around the world had already begun to surpass the sustainable capacity in the 1970s and today in 2010, the rate of emission has multiplied manifold, thanks to the steadily growing population. In 1970, the gas emissions were about 3.8 tons per capita while today, they have risen to more than 4.2 tons per capita. The silver lining is however, man is gradually reducing his dependence on fossil fuels in favour of more nature-friendly means of energy like sun and wind. An unarrested problem: Despite all, over population is never really considered  [...]

Global Warming Causes and Effects

Global Warming Causes and Effects
The world’s most hotly debated issue is Global warming. It difficult to conclude the reason behind global warming, as some scientists believe that it is just a myth and some believe, it’s real. Whatever the reasons be, it is affecting our earth and jeopardizing lives of living beings on this planet, including human beings. The main cause of global warming that everyone agrees on has risen by the humankind and its going to affect all living beings severely. Here is the list of causes and effects of the global warming: Global Warming Cause: Fossil fuels are used extensively by the industry to have lot of energy, which gives rise to carbon dioxide gas. Though the market is flooded with many gadgets but for producing energy in excess, commercially and personally, we are depended on burning coal. Global Warming  [...]

Causes of global warming: How we are responsible

Causes of global warming: How we are responsible
Imagine in your summer holidays it’s raining and in winters when you want to skiing its hot and dry. When on holidays you plan for wind surfing and all you get are no waves and when you plan for some good relaxing time to swim there you get a storm. The climate is changing and the earth’s seasonal cycle is shifting from the usual. The current global warming is changing the cadence of climate which we all human beings and other living things have come to rely upon. We have hanged in balance the faith of forests, wild life, farms, snowcapped mountains, great gorges and canyons, the seven wonders of earth to all other wonders of earth. We have set in motion, the upcoming disaster. Have we thought how we will cope up with the changes and how we will slow down this warming? Do we really know the causes of global warming? United Nations and many other countries even individually have formed groups and a committee to bring in information and help find some solutions to  [...]

Human activities affecting environment adversely

Human activities affecting environment adversely
Global warming is the term used for a rise in temperature of the earth due to greenhouse effect where the heat from unwanted gasses is trapped inside the earth. This in turn has adverse effect on weather patterns and climatic conditions. Some of the gasses that lead to the greenhouse effect are methane, carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons and nitrous oxide. Studies have suggested that human activities are hugely responsible for releasing such gasses. Here are some ways in which human activities are adversely affecting the environment Commuting The biggest contributor in environmental pollution is the way we commute to our offices or anywhere else. There is a rise in number of private cars on the roads everyday. The fuels used in cars release carbon dioxide that contaminate the environment. Even for a short distance, we tend to give in to the comforts of driving a vehicle that  [...]
